High standards: the key to success!

Each of our day-to-day actions gives us the opportunity to question the importance of processes and the notion of high standards, one of the Group's 3 values, along with ambition and team spirit. Edward Rose Cooper, Managing Director of Bourbon Guyana, gives us his point of view on this issue, placing the human element at the core of his reflections.
 

How do you act at your level to reinforce processes? 
Edward Rose Cooper: My approach to reinforcing processes and organizational fundamentals is based on multiple approaches. At my level, process reinforcement begins with a clear communication of expectations. I continually reemphasize the BOURBON Standards, Directives, and operational support procedures and ensure that these are accessible and complied with by all employees. Regular discussions with staff are conducted to familiarize and reinforce the team with these processes, and I always lead by example, adhering strictly to these BOURBON Standards. 

According to you, what are the strengths of BOURBON organization? 
ERC: The strengths of BOURBON lie in the Company’s agile and adaptable structure and our employee-centric culture. We have a robust support system that encourages innovation and collaboration. Our global presence also allows us to leverage diverse perspectives, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and best practices. A committed and dedicated team that are open to changes and adapt to these changes regularly whatever the circumstances. 

In what way do you consider that high standards are key of success? 
ERC: I firmly believe that high standards are the cornerstone of success. These High Standards instill a sense of excellence and drive continuous improvement. By setting high benchmarks, leading by example we not only meet but often exceed client expectations, which is crucial in a competitive industry like ours. Our ambition must be to not only meet contractual expectations, but surpass these by delivering a one of a kind service to our clients and supporting our employees and shareholders. 

How do you embark employees around these considerations? 
ERC: To embark employees on this journey, I foster an inclusive and trusting environment where every team member feels valued for their individual contribution to the team goals. I continuously recognize and reward employee contributions that align with our high standards. In conclusion, as the General Manager, I am committed to reinforcing processes, leveraging our organizational strengths, implementing growth strategies, upholding high standards, and continue to engage employees to navigate the challenges of growth and achieve our goals, while maintaining our Compliance and Standards.
