BAOBAB project: women in the spotlight!
Some operations are particularly impressive, and Bourbon Subsea Services' work on the Baobab project in Côte d'Ivoire is one of them! It's a real achievement, both in terms of engineering and operations on the ground, supported by a talented team with remarkable diversity.
This T&I (‘Transport & Installation’) project is an opportunity to apply the BSS DNA of ‘agility & creativity’, by providing turnkey solutions for disconnecting and cutting pipes connected to an FPSO, using tools specifically designed for the client within a tight timeframe (less than 4 months). And while the offshore energy sector is characterised by a particularly high proportion of male employees, it's worth noting that a quarter of the project team in charge of this operation in Côte d'Ivoire are women!
Jamila, Lisa, Marine & Marina, each at their own level, have shown unfailing commitment to meeting the challenges of this special contract. By actively listening to the needs of our operational staff, Jamila, our Recruitment Manager, was able to recruit and mobilise around fifteen expert profiles in just two months, all of whom have been successful. Lisa, a structural engineer, designed equipment specific to the project, certified by the client and compliant with the Class, and took part in the vessel's mobilisation phase, navigating swiftly between theory and reality. For her part, Marine, operations engineer, plays the essential role of logistical interface between the requirements of the project and local port activities. Finally, Marina, project control manager, after participating in the response to the call for tenders with the commercial department, has jumped into the world of operations by controlling the proper execution of the project using new tools that she has mastered with such dexterity that she has established herself as a key support in the project manager's decision-making.
BOURBON considers diversity to be an essential condition for the expression of each person's potential and for collective performance. This operation is a perfect illustration of this.
